Access

The Public Records (Access) Rules 1996 establishes that, with certain exceptions, the public granted access to archival records of government that are at least 30 years old. Archival records under 30 years require prior application in writing to the Director, GRS. This application will be passed on to the appropriate records creating agency for consideration with respect to access status of records under request.

The holdings of the Central Preservation Library may be referenced on-site only. Most of them, subject to their physical conditions, may be consulted without restrictions.
