Introduction

Welcome to the Educational Resources Page. To facilitate users to get the most from the services provided by the Public Records Office (PRO) of the Government Records Service (GRS), this Page is intended to provide guidance for users, particularly educators and students, on the use of various catalogues in the PRO, give suggestions on the search strategy for school projects and provide reference materials in relation to the school curriculum. Reproduction for purposes other than the above (e.g. for publication purposes) requires the prior written permission of the PRO of GRS.

¡§Hints for Efficient Searching¡¨ are targeted at all users. A series of search guides has been prepared for users. Through the search guides, users may obtain a good grasp of searching skills for locating the relevant records in our holdings through Integrated Information Access System (IIAS) in an efficient and effective way.

A series of ¡§Analysis Worksheets¡¨ have been developed for structured examination of different source materials and stimulating students' critical thinking and discussions.

¡§Topical Guides¡¨ are prepared particularly for educators and students of the History, Chinese History and Liberal Studies subjects of senior secondary education. Educational materials are selected from our holdings for these target users to help them undertake their historical investigation/independent enquiry study according to the topics in the curriculum of these subjects. These resources aim to stimulate students' imaginations and develop their critical thinking skills, as well as helping teachers to get materials for lesson plans.

¡§Resources Gallery¡¨ provides a wide range of primary resources for users to prepare for their projects.

¡§On-line Exhibitions¡¨ aim to demonstrate the use of primary resources, particularly archival holdings, in research project.
