The Peninsula

The Governor of Hong Kong, Sir Mark Young, signed the instrument of surrender in The Peninsula (now The Peninsula Hong Kong). The Japanese Military Government utilised the hotel as its administration headquarters. The hotel reopened for business in April 1942 under the name "Toa Hotel".

The Japanese Military Government categorised The Peninsula (now The Peninsula Hong Kong) as enemy property and established the Yokohama Specie Bank’s Kowloon office there. HKRS141-19-29-2 (1942-1945)
