Markets

Following the Japanese Occupation, markets were confiscated as "enemy properties" and renamed with Japanised names. For example, the Central Market was renamed "香港中央市場". The Japanese Military Government also implemented price control on the food sold in the Central Market and prohibited street vending of certain food items, such as fish.

The "Register of Enemy Properties" lists over 20 markets, including the Central Market located on "Higashishowa-dori"(Des Voeux Road Central), which was renamed "香港中央市場" during the Japanese Occupation. HKRS141-19-29-2 (1942-1945)
